OJSC VimpelCom is
part of the VimpelCom Ltd. Group, one of the world’s largest
integrated telecommunications services operators offering a wide
range of wireless, fixed, and broadband services in Russia,
Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Armenia, Georgia,
Kyrgyzstan, Cambodia, Laos, Algeria, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Burundi,
Zimbabwe, Central African Republic, Italy and Canada.
VimpelCom’s operations around the globe cover territory with a
total population of approximately 782 million people.
VimpelCom provides services under the "Beeline", "Kyivstar",
"djuice", “Wind”, "Infostrada" “Mobilink”, “Leo”, “Banglalink”,
“Telecel”, and “Djezzy” brands. As of March 31, 2012 VimpelCom had
209 million mobile subscribers.
OJSC VimpelCom offers integrated mobile and fixed communication
services, long distance and international communication, data
transmission, and telematic services through a range of fixed and
wireless solutions, including FTTB internet access, WiFi, and 3G
technologies. VimpelCom’s customer base includes private consumers,
large-, medium- and small-scale enterprises, transnational
corporations and telecom operators.
All services are
offered under the Beeline trademark. Since 2005 Beeline brand has
been of the most valuable brands in Russia according to the
international consulting company Interbrand. Research agency
“Milward Brown Optimor” included Beeline in the list of 100 most
valuable brands in the world with an estimated brand value of $8.16
billion. Beeline brand was also recognized as one of BrandZ Top
Twelve most valuable global brands on telecommunication
market.
On February 29, 2008 OJSC VimpelCom completed a merger with Golden
Telecom, a leading facilities-based provider of integrated
telecommunications and Internet services in Russia and the CIS. In
September of 2008 OJSC VimpelCom introduced a wide range of telecom
solutions for corporate segment on the Russian market under the
Beeline Business brand.
In October 2008 OJSC VimpelCom acquired a 49.9% stake in Euroset,
the largest mobile retailer in Russia and the CIS.
OJSC VimpelCom was
the first Russian company to list its shares on the New York Stock
Exchange (NYSE) under the symbol “VIP”. Following the creation of
the VimpelCom Ltd. holding company in April 2010 which consolidated
the stakes of OJSC VimpelCom and Kyivstar, the ticker “VIP” was
transferred to VimpelCom Ltd.
